Workways specialist takes to the airwaves
Susana Salamanca, IPS Employment Specialist at Workways Devon, recently had the opportunity to share her experience and the important work of Workways on Exeter's community radio station, Access All Aerials.
Access All Aerials is a unique station giving disabled people a voice on the airwaves, providing an important platform for voices that are traditionally under-represented.
Susana was invited to appear on the Drivetime with Greg show after one of her clients - who volunteers with the station - suggested she come on to talk about her role and the Workways service.
Susana said: It was such a privilege to talk about Workways. What mattered most was being able to share our message: that anyone who wants to work can work, with the right support.
I'm incredibly grateful to Access All Aerials for inviting us and for giving space to talk about the link between mental wellbeing and meaningful work.
During the interview, Susana spoke about the types of support Workways provides and how the service can support people in finding jobs.
Workways Devon supports people through:
- IPS (Individual Placement and Support) - helping people receiving secondary mental health care to find work or education
 - Job retention - supporting people in work who are at risk of losing their job due to mental health difficulties
 - Mindful Employer - a national charter supporting employers to create mentally healthy workplaces

You can listen to the full interview on Access All Ariels - Susana's segment starts at around 1 hour and 10 minutes into the programme.
