Andrew Greer and Paul Tully took on the Chase the Sun cycling event.Congratulations to Andrew Greer, Clinical Team Manager and Paul Tully, Community Practice Lead, who took on the Chase the Sun challenge on Saturday 21 June in support of our charity Open Up.

This demanding cycling event covers an extraordinary 206 miles in a single day, stretching from Kent all the way to Weston-Super-Mare. Taking on such a challenge is no small feat - and we are so grateful to both Andrew and Paul for their commitment, energy and passion in raising awareness and funds for our charity.

Thanks to their efforts, they've already raised over £900, helping Open Up continue to support people accessing mental health, learning disability and neurodiversity services across Devon and beyond.

Andrew Greer and Paul Tully after completing the Chase the Sun challengeReflecting on the day, Andrew said: "We did it, and yes, I beat the sun. This was, without question, the most emotionally, physically and mentally challenging thing I've ever done. There were tears. There was laughter. There was shouting, singing and some very creative coping strategies during the toughest, darkest moments. Would I do it again? Right now, probably not. But without a doubt, this stands as my greatest sporting achievement - something I genuinely wasn't sure was even possible. Massive shoutout to the two legends who came to my rescue at mile 140 when I was hit with punctures and wheel issues. Without you, I honestly don't know if I would've crossed that finish line. Thank you."

We are proud to have such dedicated people supporting Open Up. Every mile they cycled, and every pound raised helps fund meaningful, tangible improvements for the people we support.

If you'd like to show your support, there's still time to donate via JustGiving.

Thank you again, Paul and Andrew - and thank you to everyone who has supported them on this journey.
